  15. Quick Start

  17. If you are one of those people who hates to read manuals, you need to know a few things before using IconBuilder Pro:

  19. 窶｢ IconBuilder Pro is a Photoshop effects filter. After it is put in your plug-ins folder, you'll see it appear in the Filter menu under "Iconfactory".

  21. 窶｢ When you start IconBuilder Pro, make sure that you're working on a transparent layer that contains image data.
  22.  
  23. 窶｢ IconBuilder Pro starts out with a blank icon grid. Use QuickBuild邃｢ to create an icon using the selection of the current layer.

  25. 窶｢ If you need help creating folder icons or working with some of the advanced 32-bit features, check out the recipes in the next section.

  30. Registration

  32. IconBuilder Pro is not free. If you continue to use the filter, you must pay for it. Your registration fee of $69 supports the Iconfactory and all the good things we do.

  34. As an incentive to register, IconBuilder Pro will take longer to start up as you continue to use it.
  35.  
  36. When the delays become annoying, payment is quick and easy using the Enabler application. You can also pay via on-line registration at our web site or by mailing us a payment; instructions for paying are included in the Registration section of this manual.

  39. Installation

  41. NOTE: Mac OS 9 is required for making Mac OS X icons. If you are running on earlier version, you can still make icons but the Mac OS X features will be disabled.

  43. Move the entire folder you downloaded to your Photoshop plug-ins folder. Once the filter is installed properly, you will see IconBuilder Pro in the Filters menu under the Iconfactory category.

  45. If you don't know where your filters folder is located, start by looking in the folder where the Photoshop application is stored. You will see a folder named Plug-ins. Move the IconBuilder Pro v2.0 folder into the Plug-ins folder.

  48. If you like IconBuilder Pro and want to share it with your friends, please make sure that you give them the StuffIt file that you downloaded. If you want to distribute this software by other means, please read the Legal Stuff at the end of this document.
